SUPER ENABLE EMERGES AGAIN FROM CRYSTAL BALL: Crystal enables us to get a price! So said Daqman yesterday about Crystal Ocean’s attack on Enable (supernap WON 8-15). And how! Enable was 4-5 at one stage before she gave Daqman a seventh successive success on her. Daqman also pays tribute to horse and trainer of his big handicap winner, Ripp Orf. ‘He shows his form almost every time he runs for David Elsworth.’

WON 7-1 RIPP ORF
WON 8-15 ENABLE (supernap)

PRICEWISE’S 209-POINT DEFICIT AGAINST DAQMAN: Pricewise has slipped than 100 points in the red as Daqman leads him 68-22 in the 90 feature races chosen by the Racing Post. Daqman is +107 with Pricewise –102, so there is a 209-point gap between them to single-unit stakes.

HOMERIQUE HAS THE GEARS AT 17.0

3.15 Longchamp (Prix du Moulin) It’s a sunny Sunday in Paris, drying the good-to-soft ground for a race won three times in 10 seasons by English raiders.

The draw is paramount. In a decade of Longchamp renewals (excluding the last two years when it was transferred to Chantilly), the result by stall has been: 2, 4, 2, 2, 4, 1, 1, 4, 1, 2

It’s a blow to the hopes of Expert Eye (Sir Michael Stoute, stall 8) and Lightning Spear (David Simcock, in 10) but a boost for Without Parole (John Gosden, 2).

Without Parole has to bounce back to St James’s Palace form (Wootton third), which hiked his rating to 119, before he flopped as Sussex Stakes favourite behind Lightning Spear (120) and Expert Eye (119) and was last of six in the York International.

From the one stall, you have Plumatic, returned to form dropping back to a mile but a Group-3 win at Salisbury off 109 leaves a lot of required improvement in little more than three weeks since.

The filly Homerique (out of gate 3) is also only a Group-3 winner, but races keenly and got the 1m 2f well again when only a neck and a nose off Laurens in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly in June.

In another big year for fillies, Homerique has a fine chance on the rail here, rated around 112 but, of course, getting 8lb from the four-year-old favourite, Recoletos.

She kicked into gear at the business end of those 10-furlong races; can she show the same turn of foot off the faster mile pace?

Recoletos won the Ispahan here at Longchamp in the Spring but the form doesn’t amount to much and he races off only a pound higher (at 115), and was mown down by the magic Alpha Centauri in the Jacques Le Marois (Intellogent behind).

There is a form line here. Third that day, three-and-a-half lengths back was With You (received 10lb from Recoletos) who was about a length off Homerique in the Diane.

There is a quality parade of top jocks here: Badel, Barzalona, Boudot, Dettori, Guyon, Moore, Murphy, Peslier, Soumillon. Europe’s finest.

If the stats work out, Homerique should be 3-1 max. If the ratings are accurate, she can beat the favourite. If my collateral form (at different distances) means anything, she is right on top of him. However you look at it, the 17.0 offers I saw this morning were far too big.

ANOTHER 17.0 TOO BIG ON BETDAQ

2.20 York In a wicked race like this, you use a pin or have yourself some stats. It’s a big-field 10-furlong handicap on good-to-soft with showers about. In theory, they should finish in line, but…

Four-year-olds win it (five out of six) at fancy prices (12-1 to 33-1 in four out of five) from 9st 4lb to 9st 7lb in the handicap (four out of five) and from a high draw (five out of six).

That makes the 17.0 offers about Francis Xavier far too big for a new yard in flying form with three winners in nine days (27% strike rate).

2.55 York Similar to Enable yesterday, 10 gets you seven (actually 1.69) about Limato, who is back to form and 10lb clear of his field.

None of these would like too much rain so ‘it’s the same for them all’, as they say and class should see him through, solidly on his way back to a place in the British Champions Sprint after his Listed win on the last day.
