7/1 SATURDAY WINNER: No sun at Sandown but there was SOLL – DAQMAN’s pick in the Veteran’s Chase who got up on the line to win at a juicy 7/1.

WINNING NAP TOO: Soll was the perfect follow-up to the previous race which saw DAQMAN’s Saturday nap Yorkhill win at 4/9 in the featured Tolworth Stakes.

SUNDAY SERVICE: Three cards on Sunday and DAQMAN has bets at all three venues.

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MULLINS

Plenty of Cheltenham clues on offer on a good card at Naas this afternoon which sees the two ‘Hills’ brothers in action.

Shaneshill continues his chasing career in the 1.20 and Bellshill goes in the feature race of the day the Lawlor’s Hotel Novice Hurdle, a Grade 1 at 1.50pm.

Both the Willie Mullins runners are odds on and it’s hard to see what can prevent them both from scoring.

Shaneshill has plenty of class – we knew that back in 2014 when he finished runner-up to Silver Concorde in the Champion Bumper at the Festival and reversed placings with that rival to win the equivalent at the Punchestown Festival.

He won two of his five races over hurdles and was placed in the other including finishing runner-up to Douvan in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

All eyes were on him at Thurles for his chasing debut for which he was sent off a 1/4 shot and put in a perfectly perfunctory performance. He jumped well and didn’t need to be pushed out in any way by Ruby Walsh. This is a significantly tougher task for him but there must be every chance his class over hurdles and on the flat will convert to the chasing game.

Mullins had an odds-on shot beaten in this race last year and the biggest challenge to Shaneshill may well come from Kitten Rock who won four small field Graded races in a row over hurdles before making a pleasing winning debut over fences at Navan.

Bellshill should land the feature race on the card, half an hour later. He was a fairly prolific bumper horse (won the Punchestown Champion Bumper) who has now won both his starts over hurdles. He was particularly impressive when beating Tycoon Prince by 12 lengths in a fairly uncompetitive Grade 2 at Navan last time out.

Mullins won this last year with Mckinley at 33/1 who beat better fancied stable companion Tell Us More and he runs Stone Hard in opposition today who fell last time out at Navan but his overall form suggests he’s not got the same class as Bellshill.

MINELLA IS ON LINE FOR SUSSEX SLOG

A big test of stamina for the 11 remaining runners in the At The Races Sussex National at Plumpton this afternoon where the ground looks set to be on the heavy side of heavy!

Last years winner Itoldyou is back for more and could again go close – despite racing off a 3lb higher handicap mark.

Preference though is for Minella On Line who seems to be enjoying the game again. He was pulled up five times in a row but has shown more enthusiasm lately and was a reasonable third at Newbury last time out. The handicapper has edged him down another 2lb and I’m hoping for a good run.

POWER HAT-TRICK

No Power in tonight’s darts final but Power Game looks the one to be on at Chelmsford. The Godolphin runner is back from a break after two Kempton wins and looks set to handle this step up in class.
