TIME TURNS CANDY CLOCK BACK: Remember Time Charter? Lochsong?: Two giants of the turf brought to mind at Salisbury by a Henry Candy 8.8 offer on BETDAQ this morning. Daqman fills in the story.

EARLY STRIKE AGAINST FRENCH: He starts the day at Chantilly, where he backs the English to win before lunch time. Then he bowls a 37.0 googly at Haydock – where he names his nap for John Gosden – and a 17.0 curved ball at Salisbury

DON’T FORGET DAQ MULTIPLES: His Daq Multiples hang on a Gosden double, linked to the Candy sprinter. Will the mix pay off? Can you do better? Don’t forget Daq Multiples every day. Small stakes can win big money.

AFANDEM IS BEST AMONG WINNERS

12.10 Chantilly If only two-year-olds’ form would remain constant (the little devils can improve fast or go backwards in a hurry), we could fancy the English to grab this prize.

A Listed winner already in France, Hugo Palmer’s Afandem was the moral at York on the last day, beaten a head giving weight to a dual winner.

Third, fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth had all won their previous race, and the seventh horse home scored next time out.

Clive Cox’s Barroche, sixth in the Queen Mary, was fourth to Mrs Danvers at Newbury, just behind Stormy Clouds, who had been second to Mrs Danvers in the Super Sprint on the same course. So some consistency there, then.

Fixette has already been runner-up twice in Group 3 but Cosachope, who beat her at Deauville, was a long way behind Clive Cox’s Tis Marvellous at Maisons last month, when Hargeisa was third.

MUWARRY THE ONE IN GOSDEN DUO

2.00 and 4.00 Haydock John Gosden is the punter’s pal at Haydock, with a huge 39-point level-stakes profit. His strike rate of 32% rises to 41% with juveniles.

And he should kick off with a winning two-year-old in Elraazy (2.00), though for the nap I fancy Muwarry, an entire thought to be Group-1 material but has not had an easy passage.

Forge has struggled and there’s no indication for today from my man in the long grass, while the grey Dark Emerald’s third in a Group-3 is as flattering as his place in a handicap earlier.

He has won only once in England in two years, and was behind Muwarry in the mud at Newmarket in late June, three times his price.

8.8 ON BETDAQ LOOKED SO DANDY

2.10 Salisbury Rod Millman prepared Bukle from maiden races to win this at 20-1 a year ago.

The same yard’s Sir Plato, 17.0 in the BETDAQ orange as I write, has had three quick maidens in succession over the last six weeks and is now qualified for this nursery handicap off only 57.

That hardly seems to square with the quality of the company he’s kept when you consider that the winners of his three races have achieved 78 (twice) and 97.

That’s between 6lb and 40lb better than the top-weight here, who has to give Sir Plato 23lb.

3.40 Salisbury (Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes) All winners, five of them last time out. It’s hard to fancy Elliptical, with Robert Cowell (1-32) struggling for winners and Joseph Tuite (Madam Dancealot) is right out of form (0-16).

Grizzel has kept good company but shown no improvement since the Spring, according to the handicapper, who has dropped her a pound.

Simmie is similar, but at least she coasted home when down in class on the last day, after running in the Queen Mary and the Super Sprint.

If you forgive her last run, when she was brought back to the minimum, the big, strong filly Dainty Dandy would have a big chance on her third to Fair Eva in the Princess Margaret in July.

The winner has since been placed in the Lowther and the runner-up won the Group-3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood, when Kilmah was runner-up.

Kilmah won the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood by only a neck from promising, who had earlier been beaten, also a neck, by Perfect Angel on the same course.

Mystic Dawn beat nothing well at Brighton. Likewise, Pellucid at Thirsk (and now hooded). Both could (should) improve but, as they stand today don’t recommend themselves.

The value in the BETDAQ orange early mouse appeared to be the 8.8 Dainty Dandy, win and place.

TIME TURNS THE CANDY CLOCK BACK

4.10 Salisbury (Lochsong Fillies’ Handicap) Mick Channon runs his horses like he played football. He likes to keep them lobbing along in the middle ground, hoping for the second ball.

His lightweight Sixties Sue is on a losing toll of 16 but the grey filly has dropped 11lb in three outings, and might have a say.
The reverse is the case with Gravity Flow. She’s shot up the rankings by near on a stone with a hat-trick in lower class. Can she make this long jump from class 4 to class 2?

Show Stealer had form, and collateral form, with Dancing Star in the early summer but she’s not straightforward, and can be unruly at the start.

Stellarta also had form with Dancing Star in the Spring, was fourth in the Stewards Cup Consolation and trotted up at Windsor on the last day. That’s blown her sky high; 10lb up the handicap.

Time To Exceed got off the mark at Doncaster and the second has won since. Could still be anything at this stage, and I fancied a bit of 9.0 on BETDAQ.

Her trainer, Henry Candy, who has the flying pair Twilight Son and Limato, gives us a big hint for this one, by putting her in a race named after Lochsong.

But it’s not just all about speed. Time To Exceed goes back on her dam’s side to Henry’s mighty mare Time Charter, the one that made his name, winner of the Oaks, Champion Stakes and King George. Wouldn’t Henry just love to see this one thrive!
