NAP! NAP! GOLD AT BOTH ENDS OF THE RAINBOW Rainbow Heart is all class, advised Daqman yesterday. Result: an eight-lengths success at better than 4-5 on BETDAQ in the morning. Rainbow Heart (WON 4-6) ran at the same time as Shamrock’s nap, which also won. So, whether you want a full day on the BETDAQ orange or 60 seconds of adrenalin, we aim to please! Daqman also scored with his 10-point Jumps bet:

WON 4-6 RAINBOW HEART (20-point supernap)
WON 1-1 CANYON CITY (Jumps 10-pointer)

NOW THREE WINNING SUPERNAPS IN FOUR DAYS Rainbow Heart was Daqman’s third winning supernap out of the last four, as follows:

WON 10-11 VERDANA BLUE (supernap Sunday)
WON 8-13 MANUELA DE VEGA(supernap Monday)
2ND 11-10 BEAU DE BRIZAIS (supernap Tuesday)
WON 4-6 RAINBOW HEART (supernap Wednesday)

DAQMAN PLANS BIG CHASE DOUBLE ON SUNDAY The Jumps season fires into life on Sunday with two top chases which Daqman hopes will give him a nice Daq Multiples double. “Pete’s Yard Looks For Repeat’ is his early preview.

PETE’S YARD LOOKS FOR REPEAT!

2.45 Wincanton, Sunday (Desert Orchid Silver Cup) The day is not quite forgotten when Tom George struck gold in this; it was just three years ago.

Forgotten Gold won off 127 and Tom has Kilbree Kid spot on that mark for Sunday, with Sumkindofking on 131 and Agamemnon 121.

All three will be getting at least half a stone from the likely favourite, Colin Tizzard’s Kings Lad, who will enjoy the firmish ground.

Just up the A303, Paul Nicholls is preparing either or both of Ridgeway Flyer and Favorito Buck’s, both happy on top of the ground but both coming off long absences, and I’m keener on his chances in the Old Roan Chase at Aintree.

3.00 Aintree, Sunday (Old Roan Chase) A 158-rated chaser and a lightweight prepped by a stable famous for winning this race. That’s the top and bottom of it.

We have been warned by Paul Nicholls that this will be Frodon’s season. Here he is still only six but already with 26 starts – 18 over fences – producing a quarter of a million pounds in prizemoney.

Form when fresh: 133133; in fact, won or placed in 12 of his last 16 starts, still standing.

Frodon will have to give 21lb to Guitar Pete, trained by Nicky Richards, whose Monet’s Garden famously won three Old Roans out of four (2007, 2009 and 2010).

Those successes included defeat of one of the most famous stars in recent steeplechase history, indeed Kauto Star (Paul Nicholls), and his farewell Old Roan was when beating a five-years-younger Poquelin. Trainer? Again, Paul Nicholls.

As bottom of the handicap, Guitar Pete has already turned over a Nicholls top weight in a big chase. He beat Clan Des Obeaux (3-1 favourite) in the 2017 December Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Deja vu? Again, again.

HOKEY TO PUT BEST FOOT FORWARD

3.50 Ludlow This amateur riders handicap chase has been reduced to a field of just four with the defection of Heavenly Promise who had a big chance.

It’s no surprise to see Hoke Colburn out again quickly after his 10 length romp at Huntingdon and he should be able to shrug off the 5lb penalty.

He’s actually better off if you consider Luca Morgan’s 7lb claim but I prefer to think that amateur riders claim for the reason of inexperience so don’t tend to go down that road.

The big danger is Cernunnos who has the most experienced pilot in Noel George. There was a much better run from Cernunnos at Uttoxeter last time out and he’s tried again with blinkers today.

Abbeygrey is back after a long break but he was been well beaten in his last four races so is impossible to enthuse about together with Irish Thistle who completes the quartet but for my money doesn’t see out this extended trip.

5.10 Southwell A bumper closes the card and it gives the Philip Hobbs trained Larkbarrow Lad an idea opportunity for a first win.

He brings plenty of experience and improved with each start last season, finishing second to stable companion Ebony Gale at Wincanton last time out.

He is preferred to point to point recruits Liosduin Bhearna and Mystic Court – a bigger danger may come from the Emma Lavelle trained Prophets Prayer who wouldn’t need to improve much on her debut fourth at Market Rasen.

7.45 Chelmsford Lacan was a big eye-catcher for me last time out when a course and distance fifth.

He looks back on a winning mark (dropped a further pound) and I could easily see him returning to the same kind of form as he showed in March when winning over course and distance.
