99 POINTS PROFIT IN FOUR DAYS: Now it’s 20 best bets up for the year, with a notable supernap yesterday giving Daqman a profit of 99.35 points in four consecutive winning days, striking at around 43% on all selections. His naps are nearly 40% hits going right back to New Year’s Day.

Wednesday: 31 points profit
WON 11-10 NOTABLE SPEECH (supernap)
WON 13-8 ROCKINASTORM (BETDAQ 3.65)

Tuesday: 0.70 points profit
WON 15-8 PALLAS LORD (nap) Tuesday profit 0.70 points

Monday: 14.40 points profit
WON 6-1 FEVERTRE

Sunday: 53 points profit
WON 15-8 FIRE DEMON (BETDAQ 5.7)
WON 10-1 WHERE IT ALL BEGAN (BETDAQ 14.5)

VALUE ALL ROUND ON BETDAQ: Daqman finds that the four-year-olds are value in the kind of handicap they should win at Chelmsford at this time of year; super-in-form Charlie Appleby makes a lone raid on Newcastle; and there’s no opposition in the market to a nap for Team Gosden on the same card.

RACING DIARY WITH DAQMAN

⭕ 2.08 Newcastle, Saturday (Eider Chase)

GIT MAKER (Jamie Snowden) Ultima and Kim Muir entry at Cheltenham, but the Midlands Grand National is the more likely alternative to the festival.

A mark of 135-138 wins nicely at Uttoxeter and a small penalty for taking the Eider off 132 would create a perfect opportunity.

⭕ 3.20 Southwell, Saturday (Winter Derby)

LORD NORTH is back on Saturday with last year’s winning jockey, Robert Havlin, trying to do the double in a moveable-feast Winter Derby.

John Gosden has won four of the last five Winter Derbys and, in the one he missed (2022), last year’s winner – Lord North – was second to Alenquer (William Haggas).

But don’t forget this is Southwell, not the usual venue at Lingfield. That means it’s being run over an extra furlong.

That may not suit Lord North or his 2023 runner-up, Tyrrhenian Sea (Andrew Balding). The extra furlong favours Lion’s Pride, 11f and 12f winner at Kempton but a stablemate of Lord North’s. Interesting.

START OF THE FLAT SEASON
Saturday Winter Derby at Southwell
Monday, March 18 and all week Lincoln Handicap (24th)

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL
Saturday Eider Chase at Newcastle
Monday March 4 and all week Cheltenham stats a week in advance
Monday March 11 and all week Cheltenham Festival

GRAND NATIONALS
Saturday March 16 Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter
Monday April 1 Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse
Tuesday April 2 and all week: Aintree stats day by day in advance
Monday April 8 and all week Liverpool Grand National (13th)

FOUR-YEAR-OLDS FAVOURED

⭕ 4.35 Chelmsford Optik won three races in 13 days in January, landing the odds the last twice, but then easy to back, and well beaten, an overall 11lb higher.

They celebrated Reverberation’s success here in December, making him favourite three races in a row after but managing just one more hit, and now Ethan Jones, claimed off 7lb, must try to keep the nine-year-old in the money in the 84th race of his career.

I am more interested in the four-year-olds who have won over the Chelmsford CD: Stintino Sunset and Mirabello Bay.

In her sole run here as a three-year-old in November, Stintino Sunset picked her way through the field under Dylan Hogan.

The third had won her two previous starts and the runner-up has scored since.

Mirabello Bay has plunged 16lb down the handicap since last Spring and his finished within two or three lengths of the winner in his last four starts.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 6.5 Stintino Sunset, 7 Mirabello Bay

APPLEBY IN DAZZLING FORM

⭕ 5.00 Newcastle Charlie Appleby on a roll is a forbidding sight to trainers around the world at this time of year, and I shall take Dazzling Jewel on her solo journey to boost his 35% record at Newcastle.

Appleby is going for a four-timer today, currently on 50% strike rate (9-18), with the last 14 days reading: two winners at Meydan, three at Kempton (2) and Wolverhampton, one more at Meydan, one at Doha, and a double (2-2) at Kempton yesterday.

Dazzling Jewel is bred from the Godolphin magic formula, Dubawi out of a Shamardal mare, and I doubt will be 3.0 on BETDAQ nearer the time of the race.

COVER AGAINST CLAIMERS

⭕ 6.00 Newcastle Team Gosden’s Cover Up is an overall 12lb higher for back-to-back wins wide apart between Lingfield in November and 12 days ago here at Newcastle.

Can he keep up the sequence in this higher grade, giving 16lb to his main rival in the market, Moon Flight (including the 7lb claim off him)?

A 3lb claimer brings Clearpoint dead level at the weights with Cover Up on his first start for Simon Hodgson, switched from Charlie Fellowes, who has improved him 7lb with two wins and two thirds.

Cover Up seems sure to beat that one – not fancied at 6.6 – and there’s no money for Moon Flight (7.0) either! We can follow the Daq right up to the off to cover on an alternative.

The early alternatives are layers’ bait, with Cover Up’s connections reaching for claimers and too nervous to fish in the market.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
