BETWEEN THE STICKS ON THE FLAT

⭕ 1.30 Brighton It’s hard to know whether Between The Sticks was named with a jumps future in mind but for today I’m hoping he can prove effective at the other end of the spectrum – a six furlong maiden at Brighton.

The Mick Channon trained runner has gone close in three of his four starts and surely should get off the mark here and reward support on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE .

One of his runs came here over five furlongs and that should stand him in good stead as I’m a firm believer that a bit of course experience and savviness counts for plenty around ere.

I’m not too concerned about him starting to look like a perennial maiden as I don’t think that’s the case.

He doesn’t appear to have done much wrong. Jumbeau, who beat him into third here in April, went on to run with great credit when third in a Listed contest at York – a form line which gives Between The Sticks a seismic boost in the context of this race.

He would be very unlucky to bump into a debutant with better form at this stage of their careers.

SIGNS ARE POSITIVE

⭕ 6.10 Chelmsford The Derby winning duo of Sir Michael Stoute and Richard Kingscote pair up again, this time with Kodiac Sign who can continue the good form of both trainer and jockey.

Sir Michael Stoute is 6 from 19 (we know the headline one) and Kingscote has won on BOTH his rides since Desert Crown on Saturday!

Let’s hope his stay on cloud 9 continues a little longer.

Kodiac Sign should improve from his run at Doncaster in April when third and can see off the challenge of Dukedom (had several chances, cheekpieces now on) and Western Writer (first run since being gelded).

THE LUCKY LAST BET?

⭕ 7.55 Chelmsford Hopefully Be Lucky My Son can land my final bet of the day on Tuesday.

The Ralph Beckett trained runner looks a steady improver and went into my notebook at Sandown last time out when a 20/1 fourth in a race that looked a lot better than this.

It was his first run after a break and he looked in need of it too – running freely in the early stages. Hopefully he will come on plenty for that and knuckle down to take this opportunity.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
