FORTUNE COOKIES FINAL FIVE
UPDATE: Bluestocking, winner of Sunday’s Arc, may race again after all. ‘It would be a shame to retire her,’ said a Juddmonte spokesman, though the concern would be the immense value for breeding and fear of an accident should the ‘race on’ argument win.
Bluestocking, who has bagged £3,600,000 in prizemoney, brought Fortune Cookies total winnings to 485 points from a 44% strike rate.
Here are the remaining big-race dates from which to secure a 500-plus total for the season.

EMPORESS IN CHARGE
⭕ 1.53 Leicester Emporess loved the muddy conditions when winning well at Bath last week and is taken to follow up under her penalty with Oisin Murphy riding for the first time.
Her performance can even be upgraded as she lost ground at the start when hampered but recovered over the 5f 160y trip to win by two and three quarter lengths. It’s only a marginal step up in distance today which, in any event, should be in her favour.
It’s also interesting to note that her trainer Rod Millman also has her entered up in a nursery over seven furlongs on Sunday which could still be the plan with a good win today. Even more so if the trainer is a believer of striking while the iron is hot.
The danger, as the Betdaq Betting Exchange market would indicate, looks to be the William Haggas trained Wiesaam but the ground surely has to be a major concern in his case?
He has only tackled soft once in four starts and finished stone last of 13 at Windsor beaten 16 lengths. There didn’t appear to be any excuses for that run, so I’d be wary of supporting him on similar ground today.
G’DAY MELBOURNE
⭕ 4.25 Leicester I wanted to be against the likely market leader Galyx here. There are no problems with the ground as he won on soft at Windsor in May but that was a class 5 and he is up two notches on the ladder here.
He’s also been a beaten favourite in his last two starts (both on soft ground) and plenty of Betdaq layers will no doubt be looking for the hat-trick to be landed.
Lord Melbourne represents the Arc winning axis of Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan and I think comes into this with the best recent form. He too won’t struggle in the ground department being a heavy ground winner at Pontefract.
He was a winner at this level three starts ago at York. Subsequently he equipped himself well with a solid fourth at Ascot in a class 2 and definitely looks the value call as I fully expected him to go off favourite.
BEATING THE DRUM
⭕ 7.00 Southwell Am saving the drumroll until last as Different Drum looks a different animal now he has been stepped up in trip to two miles and looks well handicapped – despite the 4lb hike.
He had plenty in hand when winning over this trip at Newcastle last time out and appeals more than Grey Nyle who is up in the weights for getting beat last time – never a combination that Daqman likes.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
