Liverpool are back in action, this time against Aston Villa as they start a massive few days in their title challenge. They face two tough away fixtures; against Villa here and then Manchester City at the weekend. Manchester City are also involved in a massive fixture on Wednesday night as they take on Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League fixture. Last week, all eyes were on the Champions League but we had absolute carnage in the Merseyside Derby – we might have all eyes on the Champions League again, but this should be a cracker too.
Liverpool come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.92 with Aston Villa 4.2 and the draw is 4.1 at the time of writing. Liverpool come into the game with a seven point lead over Arsenal, and while that gap looks extremely difficult to close at the moment; a loss here and then the fixture at the weekend away to City could see a bit of drama in the title race – obviously Arne Slot will have different plans though! Villa have dropped into mid-table, and their under-lining numbers have been very underwhelming this season.
Liverpool currently have the best attacking figure in the Premier League, they’ve scored the most goals and they’ve been exceptional this season in general to be honest. Liverpool’s average xG created is 1.93 – compare that to Aston Villa at 1.39 which is in the bottom seven attacking figures in the Premier League. Villa have also been a little sloppy at the back, they are conceding over their xG figure – it’s hard to see them keeping a clean sheet against the best side in the Premier League this season, maybe even in Europe.
Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.6, and I have to say I much prefer the Liverpool option at 1.92. Villa haven’t offered enough going forward to be confident on them actually finding the net here – Both Teams To Score is trading the exact same price as Overs – I feel if we have a high scoring game Liverpool will have to do a lot of the heavy lifting there. Arne Slot has Liverpool in the top three on defensive figures as well; I can’t see a better value option than the Liverpool win at the odds here and at 1.92 I’m happy to have a confident bet.
