5/4 WINNING NAP STARTS WEEK: DAQMAN’S soaraway summer spree continued on Monday when his nap Glorious Lover WON 5/4 – enough to secure a 7.5 points profit on the day across his three bets.

THE DAQMAN PLAN TO MAKE 1,000 POINTS PROFIT: Daqman is planning more sequences and bigger profits. He wants to follow on his three winning runs (909 points total profit; see yesterday’s column) with targeted big-race meetings between now and the end of Goodwood, taking in this week’s July Meeting, plus the York John Smith’s meeting, the Curragh Irish Oaks weekend and the King George at Ascot.

DAQMAN’S SUMMER SPREE: DAY 2

70 POINTS PROFIT TARGET: Newmarket July (July 12-14, best for naps) Starts on Thursday with the Group-2 July Stakes for top two-year-old colts. Six winners drawn 1, 2, 3 in the decade.

Friday features the Falmouth Stakes, in which eight winners out of 10 came out of stall 1 to 6. Saturday star races are the Bunbury Cup and the July Cup.

So I’ll be leaning on the draw as I aim at 70 or more points profit in three days.

120 TARGET: York (July 14) John Smith’s Cup and two other supporting handicaps lend themselves to ton-up or bull’s-eye bets, and my one-day target return is ambitious but could be on if we get a bit of rain before then to give us decent-sized fields.

50 TARGET: The Curragh (July 21-22, best for naps) Last year the incredible Enable won the Irish Oaks at this meeting but was able to return to the racecourse at Ascot and win the King George.

60 TARGET: Ascot (July 28, best for supernaps) The King George meeting is one for favourite backers so I plan to get winners but can’t expect a huge profits haul, unless I stake high with supernaps.

400 TARGET: Goodwood (July 31 to Aug 4, best for handicaps) Best for bull’s-eye bets in the big-odds value of the BETDAQ orange. I’ll try to average 80 points profit every day for five days.

300 TARGET: Don’t forget the routine midweek racing. We’ve done well, despite the low quality of the last few weeks. So maybe I’ll be counting 1,000 points profit all told in sequences between now and the end of Goodwood.

PLENTY OF SHENANIGANS FOR THE LAYERS

3.00 Pontefract (Pipalong Stakes) This looks a competitive renewal of the Listed race for fillies which has thrown up winners at 14/1, 12/1 and 11/1 in the last four seasons.

Both of Promising Run’s recent wins have come at Meydan, in Group 2 level, so she undoubtedly has the class to win this but the penalty might prove hard to defy. She was last seen when finishing sixth to Aljazzi in the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Preference is for Shenanigans who hasn’t won outside maiden/handicap company but surely black type success awaits the Roger Varian trained filly?

She ran a cracker last time out in the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom and prior to that was a close second to Nyaleti in a Goodwood Listed race.

She is narrowly the best in the field here on official ratings (taking Promising Run’s penalty into account) and can continue the good run of form for the Varian stable which is now 6 winners from their last 19 runners over the past seven days.

3.30 Pontefract Highly Sprung had hit a purple patch of form and he looks set to make a bold bid to complete the relatively rare accomplishment of a course and distance hat-trick.

It’s not surprising to see trainer Les Eyre get him out again quickly as the statutory 6lb penalty for his easy win last week is unlikely to be enough to halt his progress.

Julie Camacho has trained three winners from her last four runners, including the high profile success with Judicial in the Group 3 Coral Charge at Sandown last weekend, so it’s easy to see why recent Hamilton winner Dalton can run well again and he looks the one most likely to chase the selection home.

5.00 Pontefract I’m sticking at Ponty for my third bet on Tuesday. The lightly raced Military Madam looks interesting here win and place.

She didn’t show much in three starts as a two-year-old but ran much better first time out this season when third at Beverley and looks on a good handicap mark.

Jamie Gormley is one of the more experienced riders here and the combination look solid for a place at worse.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 20 points, except place bet staked to win 10 points)
BET 10.0pts win (nap) SHENANIGANS (3.00 Pontefract)
BET 7.5pts win HIGHLY SPRUNG (3.30 Pontefract)
BET 2.5pts win and 6.0pts place (WIN 10) MILITARY MADAME (5.00 Pontefract)
