RATHVINDEN VERSUS THE REST
Willie Mullins has a sighter to Aintree from his arch rival Gordon Elliott. Gordon used Cheltenham’s 4m NH Chase at Cheltenham to set his target for the Grand National.
In 2015, his Cause Of Causes won the long-distance test at Cheltenham and went on to run second at Liverpool.
In 2017 NH Chase success for his stablemate, Tiger Roll, would lead to Grand National glory and a sequence of cross-country wins.
Now Willie has last year’s winner of the Cheltenham marathon, Rathvinden, on course for the National and the stable’s first success since Hedgehunter 15 years ago.
Rathvinden won the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse in February and I took 15.0 on BETDAQ this week to complete my quartet for Liverpool.

2.00 Market Rasen The Lincolnshire card starts with a novice hurdle which should go to Peppay Le Pugh who comes here on the back of a good ground win at Doncaster but also has form on softer ground.
He was back hurdling after a spell over the larger obstacles and seemed to relish the switch back and should be able to follow up in this company for the in form Dan Skelton stable.
It doesn’t look the strongest of contests. Mr Scrumpy hasn’t run since November but is entitled to improve further on just his fourth start – but those first three runs have come in bumpers so we need to find out whether he can handle the jumping game.
Mon Port ran poorly on his only previous start with give in the ground and in any case has something to find with the selection on official ratings.
SUPERNAP’S have the 20 point stake but it should also be a WIN 20 for us if Peppay obliges with him trading around even money on BETDAQ at the time of selection.
3.50 Haydock Small fields and ground that is heavy in places gives Haydock’s card limited punting appeal but the 3.50 has stood up well and looks competitive.
The James Ewart trained Ettila De Sivola bolted home in soft ground at Sedgefield on only his second start and might be worth chancing here on his handicap debut.
Venetia Williams saddles the danger and favourite Eceparti who was a good second at Stratford last time out on handicap debut and this looks an easier contest.
5.05 Chepstow Tegerek can only be a tentative selection given the competitive nature of the finale but he caught the eye last time out with a good fourth at Newbury. He looks progressive and a very small increase in stake gives us a WIN 30 return which covers the other bets if earlier business doesn’t go our way.
