DAY 1 AT DONNY: The Leger Meeting at Doncaster begins today and DAQMAN has picked his way through the card to find you the best bets and has a BANKER DOUBLE at two of today’s other meetings.

BANKER LANDED: It may have been tight at Worcester but Rejaah did enough to reward DAQMAN followers who were also treated to winners at Redcar and Galway.

CHALLENGE: DAQMAN 71 – PRICEWISE 31: The Listed Scarbrough Stakes is the scene for today’s battle between DAQMAN and PRICEWISE. The scores currently stand at DAQMAN 71 – PRICEWISE 31, see below for today’s selections.

GO ON! BACK THIS IN-FORM FILLY

2.00 Doncaster Akhlaaq showed massive signs of inexperience on debut; pulling hard, running green under pressure and wandering before eventually quickening smartly under hands and heels riding to get up by a neck. He surely has learned plenty from that experience and should he be able to harness his clear natural ability more efficiently today he will be hard to beat. Dream Of Dreams is the clear danger on form but he is best watched after being pulled up early in the Gimcrack last time. Should he fail to fire again, the 2.62 on Aklaaq will look a huge price.

3.00 Doncaster Go On Go On Go On is a three year old filly on a serious upward curve of late winning her last three, albeit in handicap company and is well worth a shot at listed level. Her trainer Clive Cox is having a vintage season, already well surpassing last year’s total number of winners and it is significant that Adam Kirby has chosen to ride her rather than higher rated stablemate Priceless. Fillies in form are always worth following, particularly sprinters and Go On Go On Go On (11) arrives here full of confidence.

Muthmir is the class horse of the race but has gone 8 races and over a year since his last win however, the recent form of the William Haggas yard; 413U121122, means he should be included as a stake saving bet at an early mark of 4.5.

3.35 Doncaster Not a huge fan of novelty races as a betting proposition usually, but the presence of recent Champion Jockeys Richard Hughes and Joseph O’Brien stick out like a sore thumb in a race that includes the likes of Luke Harvey and George Duffield. They both must be worth pounds if not stones here and a small investment in both Bluff Crag (5.7) and Phosphorescence (14.5) could pay dividends.

4.10 Doncaster War Glory may have come unstuck on his first turf start last time but that experience coupled with the drop of half a furlong in trip could help him get his head back in front. This in truth doesn’t look the strongest race and he is one of the few that look to have the potential to be significantly better than their current mark. A concern is that Richard Hannon has gone 25 runs without a winner but 4 second placings in that time shows his horses aren’t running too far off form.

STAY OUT OF THE ROUGH IN UTTOXETER

2.40 Uttoxeter This looks a straight match between In the Rough and Jimmy The Jetplane and preference is for the Jonjo O’Neill trained former. A very smart novice hurdler in 2014, he has clearly had his injury problems since but still looks capable of picking up races over fences. His main rival displayed some worrying qualities of hanging and jumping right last time and his love for the game could now be questioned.

WOR, WHAT IS SHE GOOD FOR?

5.05 Carlisle Another for the filly/mares in-form camp is Wor Las in the closing race at Carlisle. She has been in devastating form in her last two runs winning by an aggregate of 14 lengths. As a result of that, Wor Lass will have to shoulder a monster 10-12 but the 5lb claim of Anna Hesketh will be a help. In truth, she is probably a class above her rivals here and the early 3.0 looks generous.

REDEMPTION TIME FOR DETTORI AND EYESHINE

7.25 Kempton Eyeshine had looked to secure this space another NAP winner over course and distance 16 days ago but her 3 length advantage from when she kicked clear early in the straight evaporated by the line. That wasn’t Frankie Dettori’s finest moment and given a more patient ride this evening she should be more than capable of breaking her maiden status.
