DAQMAN STRIKES AT THREE OUT OF FOUR: Three naps up out of four in three days, two of them supernaps. That’s Daqman’s current record ahead of the busy June weeks of the Epsom Derby and Royal Ascot. Stay with the man in form who also scored three winners in four races on Sunday.
WON 8-13 PINA SONATA (nap) Tuesday
WON 5-1 MONSIEUR PATAT Monday
WON 5-4 PORTA FORTUNA (Irish supernap) Sunday
WON 7-10 SOSIE (French supernap) Sunday
WON 10-11 LAKE VICTORIA (Irish 1,000 Guineas) Sunday
FORTUNE COOKIES: Daqman’s update puts a filly on top.
GREAT LAKE A TRUE CHAMPION
Fortune Cookies: Lake Victoria can become a magical mare. When Galileo was finally usurped as leading sire after 12 years, his son Frankel took over.
Galileo had twice won the title with a filly or mare as his ‘horse of the year’: Found (2015) and Magical (2020).
Frankel, who has been twice leading sire in the last three seasons, has my champion of 2025 so far with Lake Victoria.
I was not the only one stunned by Lake Victoria’s victory in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. ‘She’s very, very good,’ said jockey Ryan Moore. ‘Out of this world really,’ claimed trainer Aidan O’Brien.
My great favourite among fillies and mares was Enable, who won £10m in her career, an early spot by Daqman for her ability to change gear off pace.
Enable was one of half a dozen fillies and mares to win eight Arcs in the last 17 years: Zarkava, Treve (2), Found, Enable (2), Alpinista and Bluestocking. Luck can be a lady again.
*FORTUNE COOKIES update: Desert Flower, Field Of Gold, Lake Victoria, Map Of Stars, Zarigana, so three fillies so far.
SOLDIER IN COMMAND
⭕ 5.03 Hamilton Trajan Soldier went into my notebook on his last start at Beverley.
He came from way off the pace to finish well and take second to the Ed Dunlop trained Kokanee.
That was over 1m 2f and his first trip try over 1m 4f tonight (and a testing one at that) looks very sensible based on the Beverley evidence.
Andrew Balding sends up Hi Ya Mal as one of two stable runners on the card. His form has mainly come on the all-weather and he may need an even longer trip to show his best form.
THE STRANGE NAP
⭕ 6.22 Kempton Dr Strangelove is taken to defy a 7lb penalty for his debut success here last month over six furlongs.
Judged by his 16/1 SP it came as a surprise, despite the good form of the Cole stable and he should be seen to better effect over tonight’s longer trip as he was doing his best work in the closing stages.
Chief Betdaq Betting Exchange rival is Fort Campbell who has a little more experience having improved on his Wolverhampton debut to finish a respectable third at Chelmsford last time out. Both efforts have come over the same seven furlong trip as tonight.
Day Of Grace made a pleasing enough debut at Kempton and the William Haggas trained filly is entitled to come on a lot for that effort.
TWO AGAINST THE FAV
⭕ 8.22 Kempton Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy combine here with Turquino who was seeking a hat-trick before coming unstuck in better company at Ascot last time out on his turf debut when only eighth.
The switch back to the all-weather may do the trick but he looks plenty short in the market.
I thought there was value in taking him on with a couple. Calumet has been running at a higher level than this and gets a welcome drop from the handicapper. He’s run well here at Kempton before.
Arqoob is a little more speculative but he has won over course and distance and also run well in defeat here. This doesn’t look any harder than his previous course efforts and should prove easier than the task he was set at Epsom last time out.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
