EURO 2016 SUNDAY: The four Group C teams are in action on Sunday with Poland taking on Northern Ireland at 5pm and Germany v Ukraine at 8pm. First match of the day is Turkey v Croatia in Group D at 2pm. We have previewed each match.

Turkey v Croatia 2-00

Turkey started off their qualifying campaign poorly however they finished brilliant to beat Holland, Czech Republic and Iceland – the hardest teams to beat in their group – to qualify so it is quite hard to know what to expect from them in the first game. Turkey have lost each of their opening games at the Euro’s – there has to be argument that they will be better late on, as they were in qualifying.

With that in mind we are leaning toward Croatia are 2.3 in the 90 minutes market, however at around the 1.6 mark in the draw-no-bet market, this looks to offer more value. Turkey are no doubt slow starters, but we’d like to keep the draw on side in this one, leaning towards a Croatia win.

BETDAQ best bet:
Croatia draw-no-bet to beat Turkey at 1.6.

Football-Croatia

Some Turkey v Croatia facts:

  • Turkey have won none of their six games against Croatia.
  • Turkey have never led at any stage in those six games.
  • Turkey have lost all three of their opening games at the European Championships.
  • Croatia have lost just one of their last six group games at the European Championships.

Poland v Northern Ireland 5-00

Northern Ireland arrive at the Euro’s for the first time in their history and what a tough group they’ve landed themselves in, they lost lost once in qualifying but this will be a big step up and any result in the three games will be an achievement for them. They face a tough start against this Poland side who were top scorers in the qualifying with 33 goals, finishing just one point behind Germany.

It’s hard to see how Northern Ireland threaten Poland going forward while keeping them out at the other end and a Poland win here looks a shade of value at 1.75. A Poland clean sheet is also trading around the 2.0 mark however on balance we prefer the Poland win over 90 minutes.

BETDAQ best bet:
Poland to beat Northern Ireland at 1.75.

Football-Poland

Germany v Ukraine 8-00

World Champions Germany get their Euro 2016 campaign underway at 8-00 on Sunday in Stade Pierre-Mauroy and are currently priced at around 1.63 for the win in 90 minutes. Ukraine came through a relatively easy group which had Belarus, Luxembourg and Macedonia in it meaning that the top three would basically definitely be the top three and it was Ukraine that missed out in the automatic qualifying spot finishing behind Spain and Slovakia.

Their defensive record was very good, including the playoffs they didn’t concede more than one goal in their 12 qualifying games. We still expect Germany to be too strong for them here however it might pay to back under 2.5 goals given how solid Ukraine have been at the back – that’s currently priced at around the 1.95 and appeals slightly more than the 1.63 on Germany to win.

BETDAQ best bet:
Under 2.5 goals at 1.95.
