FA CUP REPLAYS TUESDAY: We preview Tuesday’s FA Cup Replays between LIVERPOOL v SHREWSBURY and OXFORD v NEWCASTLE with recommended BETDAQ bets and extended match stats.

LIVERPOOL V SHREWSBURY

7.45pm The football games just keep coming and this week we have FA Cup Fourth Round replays to enjoy. Shrewsbury battled hard for a 2-2 draw when they hosted Liverpool and no they get their well-deserved trip to Anfield. This game has already cause plenty of debate given Klopp’s decision to put out younger players and stay away from the dugout. Given the bad reaction we have seen, perhaps we’ll see a change in tactics but it’s highly likely that he’ll stick to his guns.

Obviously given the situation, Liverpool are bigger than usual in the market. However, they have already been backed in as they started the week at a higher price. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Liverpool 1.84, Shrewsbury 4.1 and the draw is 4.5. Liverpool have made Anfield a fortress in recent years, and although we will see a weakened side here – they were able to get the job done in the Third Round against Everton at Anfield.

The fact Liverpool have home advantage is a massive positive for Klopp fielding a weaker side and although the top stars won’t be on show, the home win is too big to ignore at 1.84. Liverpool have had a tough schedule but they also have next weekend off so perhaps we might see a change of heart from Klopp. Whatever side we see from Liverpool here, after beating Everton in the last round we are happy to back the home win at 1.84. Shrewsbury are only 16th in League One and Liverpool can easily outclass them here in front of the Anfield faithful.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Liverpool to beat Shrewsbury at 1.84.

MATCH STATS

  • Liverpool host Shrewsbury in a match for the first time, with their two previous meetings coming at the Shrews in FA Cup ties – a 4-0 win for the Reds in February 1996 and their 2-2 draw in this season’s fourth round.
  • In all competitions, Shrewsbury have won one of their 28 away matches against sides from the top-flight (W1 D3 L24), a 1-0 win at Leicester City in August 2014 in the League Cup.
  • Liverpool have won just one of their last five home FA Cup matches against sides from outside the Premier League (W1 D3 L1) – three of those five games have ended 0-0.
  • In all competitions, Shrewsbury will be the 99th different English team to play away at Liverpool and first new opponent for the Reds since Havant & Waterlooville in January 2008. Only eight of the previous 98 won their first away game at Liverpool, most recently Wimbledon in March 1987.
  • Shrewsbury Town’s Jason Cummings scored with both of his shots on target in their 2-2 draw in the original tie against Liverpool – the Shrews were the first team to come from two goals behind to avoid defeat against the Reds since April 2018 when West Brom did so.

OXFORD UNITED V NEWCASTLE

8.05pm Oxford United have been playing reasonably solid football this season but it was still a big surprise that they were able to hold Newcastle to a draw the first time the sides met. Oxford United currently sit in eight in League One and although they are surrounded by old Premier League sides like Sunderland and Portsmouth – Newcastle should be easily outclassing them with home advantage. However, they now face a tricky away tie that they didn’t need.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Oxford United 3.75, Newcastle 2.1 and the draw is 3.7. Newcastle don’t have a Premier League game at the weekend, so they can afford to play their best XI here. Anything other than their best XI would be hugely disappointing. Liverpool resting players is a lot different to a club like Newcastle; after all what have they got to go for only the domestic cups. As we seen with Aston Villa; a Cup run can mean a lot to the fans. Newcastle have a poor record away from home in the FA Cup but we can’t ignore them at the odds here. 2.1 to beat a mid-table League One side is just too big and we’re happy to be on an away win here.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Newcastle to beat Oxford United at 2.1.
