HAYLEY TURNER: Looks ahead to an action packed Guineas weekend at the Curragh with some recommended bets there and at Goodwood too.

An exciting weekend over in Ireland.

I’d like to see Don’t Touch win the Greenland (5.05 Curragh). Mainly because I finished second to him at Wolverhampton when he was rated 91. I rode Ghalib that day, I really fancied my chances so I was disappointed when I got beat. It’s only now I can see why! Don’t Touch is rated 112 after winning 3 races since then, including the Ayr Gold Cup. I’d like to think today he will take his unbeaten tally to six.

Air Force Blue needs to redeem himself, I can imagine there are a few fans that will be wanting their money back after supporting him at such a short price in the 2000 Guineas. I’m a little disappointed we’re not going to see Galileo Gold in the Derby but, I guess that’s easy for me to say. Connections have obviously had a good think about it and have taken the safer option. I’m keen on Awtaad, he’s improving with each run and he’s hitting this race with a perfect preparation. He has a high cruising speed with a pedigree that will make this extra furlong right up his street.

Looking at Goodwood, First Mohican, who finished 3rd at Chelmsford last time out, looked like he had the hand break on. So, I thought he would be worth taking a look at today with the first time visors. He hasn’t won at Goodwood before but he does have course form. He runs in the 4.35.

The Temple Stakes at Haydock looks a tricky one to work out, the sprinters contend against each other throughout the season but the form tends to vary. They say that a sprinter in form is always a good bet. So, that leans me towards Profitable on this occasion. He has improved from three to four years. He’s best at 5f and versatile on the ground.

Back over to the Curragh on Sunday. Cool Thunder is an interesting runner stepping straight out of a maiden into a Group 1. You’d have to respect her, Kevin Prendergast knows! I think we’ll see a Ashadihan improve from her performance at Lingfield, she didn’t take well to the track there at all and still managed to win. The Curragh will be right up her street. Now Or Never, put distance between her and her rivals in a matter of strides when winning the Guineas trial at Leopardstown, at least now we know she will stay the mile.
