PREVIEW

Tonight’s rugby league clash sees top of the table Wigan Warriors host Leeds Rhinos in the Stobart Super League. The Warriors are seeking to regain the trophy they last lifted in 2010, while Brian McDermott’s Leeds are aiming for back-to-back championships this season.

But, if the betting is anything to go by, then Wigan have already got the match sewn up. Sitting ten points clear of their fifth-place rivals, who have only won two of their last ten encounters with the Warriors, the market suggests it should be a formality for the league-chasing side.

Leeds did shock Wigan last time though, when the teams met in the Challenge Cup, and it would be foolish to dismiss them out of hand but Shaun Wane has already said how keen his side are to avenge that surprise cup loss and the Wigan boss has a nearly fully fit squad to choose from.

Michael McIlorum is unavailable as he serves the second game of his three match his suspension and Paul Prescott and Chris Tuson are still out injured but aside from that the squad looks strong.

McDermott has influential half-back Danny McGuire banned and the Rhinos’ manager has made no secret of how difficult the task tonight will be without the man he describes as being in ‘sensational’ form.

Wigan Warriors do by far look the most likely winners but at around 1.25 on BETDAQ they make little appeal, and backing Leeds Rhinos on the handicap +12.5 could offer more value at around 1.9.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Leeds Rhinos on the +12.5 handicap at around 1.9 on BETDAQ: 4 points

Thursday: -3.00 points

SEPTEMBER RETURN TO DATE: -12.22 points
