PREVIEW

Fourth-placed St Johnstone welcome Aberdeen to McDiarmid Park this evening for tonight’s live Monday night action. The hosts have made a solid start to the campaign and manager Steve Lomas will be looking for another three points against a side lacking confidence near the bottom of the league.

Even though there are a number of league places between the clubs, Aberdeen are only seven points behind their next opponents.

St Johnstone have not exactly set the world alight with their home league performances and the Saints were beaten 1-0 by St Mirren in their most recent contest in front of their own fans. The Saints have already been beaten three times at home in the league, so there will likely be plenty of nerves amongst the home supporters.

However, some of that Saints’ angst will be relieved when looking at Aberdeen’s record on their travels this season. The Dons have lost five of their six away league fixtures and have only scored once in that period.

I don’t expect many goals this evening, especially given that the Saints have managed only seven in their past six at home. Aberdeen have failed to beat St Johnstone in their last four attempts without scoring a single goal. With that in mind, I would recommend backing a home win at around 2.3 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back St Johnstone at around 2.3: 5 points
Sunday’s Return: +6.75 points
