DAQMAN A STAR: Daqman landed his Tuesday nap with Baileys Khelstar 1-2 in a race where there were two non runners.
CARLISLE AND NAAS: Both keep the show on the road today after the cards at Worcester, Salisbury, Kempton and Ffos Las have all been called off due to the heatwave.
GOLDEN MEDAL CHANCE
⭕ 4.02 Carlisle (Eternal Stakes Listed Race – Fillies) A decent Listed race to look forward to which is a bonus on the midweek Carlisle card.
The official ratings are always a starting point in these races and Elusive Butterfly (100) scores best BUT she has to give 3lb away to Golden Palace (99).
The William Haggas trained Albaydaa (86) still has some improvement to find but that looks more than likely on just her sixth career start. She finished runner-up in a class 2 at Ascot in May before her course and distance win here last time out when she scraped home in a class 3 handicap.
She heads the Betdaq Betting Exchange market but the niggling doubt is whether she is up to Listed company and you are paying a short price to find out.
There are no class doubts about Elusive Butterfly who battled on gamely to win in Listed company at Epsom last time out but her win came on good to soft ground and I’m not sure she is as effective on the quicker surface.
That leaves Golden Palace as the percentage call. She’s the most experienced at this level and even finished sixth to True Love in the Cheveley Park at Newmarket last season!
She arrives fresh from a Listed race third at Musselburgh last time out and should be better suited by this tougher track.
A BLANK CANVAS
⭕ 4.35 Carlisle There’s no doubting that Leadenhall brings the best form to the table with two wins from his last three including under today’s 7lb pilot Jake Dickson.
The in form stable of Tim Easterby have wasted no time in getting him out again so quickly after his win at Nottingham on Saturday for which he escapes a penalty here.
He has every chance in this company of extending this good run but I also want to include Canvas too who looks overpriced.
The Scott Dixon trained runner went into the notebook with a good fourth at Newmarket on his reappearance in May and might do even better on this quicker ground.
WINE ‘O’ CLOCK
⭕ 5.05 Carlisle This class 4 looks booked for Wine Dark Sea after his two excellent runs at Newmarket (class 2) and Ascot (class 3). The form of both races has worked out staggeringly well including Opportunity who was third at Ascot winning the Duke Of Edinburgh back at (Royal) Ascot last week.
It would be a huge disappointment if he can’t land this at the main expense of the consistent Gaelic Approach who steps back in distance having shown good recent form over longer trips.
