Andy Murray v Daniel Gimeno-Traver
Wimbledon Championship, First Round
Start time: 16:00, BBC 1

HEAD-TO-HEAD

(Max last 10 only)
2009 (ATP Valencia) Murray bt Gimeno-Traver 6-3, 6-1

PREVIEW

Andy Murray will step onto centre-court at Wimbledon later today against Daniel Gimeno-Traver, almost a year on since his three set defeat to eventual 2010 champion, Rafa Nadal. The Scot returns to the famous court against an opponent who he has had plenty of experience playing on the junior tour.

The pair have met just once before at the top level and the Scot came through that test with consummate ease in 2009. Murray has twice before reached the semi-finals of this famous grass Grand Slam and with his performance at Queen’s, many will be confident of another run to the latter stages of the competition.

His opponent from Valencia’s main weapons are a strong serve and a reliable forehand. However, the Spaniard will need more than that to even take a set off the inform world number four. I expect another one sided affair today and for Murray to start Wimbledon 2011 with a bang.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Murray in three sets at around 1.23: 6 points

Sunday’s Return: +4.84 points
