PREVIEW
Another round of Premier League action concludes tonight with an out-of-form Fulham hosting a Newcastle side yet to keep a clean sheet or win on the road in the league this season. The Cottagers have failed to score in their last three games and have taken just three points from their last six games, winning none.
The Magpies finally reversed a long run without a win when accounting for Wigan at St James’ Park last week, but their cause was helped immeasurably when the Latics had Mignor Figueroa sent off early. They fielded a weakened side in Bordeaux and narrowly lost. However, they were already through their Europa League group and boss Alan Pardew surely had one eye on this fixture.
It seems likely Newcastle’s star midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa will return tonight and he will provide a real threat.
Dimitar Berbatov went on a great scoring run earlier in the season but Fulham have struggled for goals and their seven-game winless league run is their worst since late 2010.
Despite that, the layers expect Martin Jol’s side to see off the Tyneside club but odds of 2.08 don’t whet the appetite. Instead the visitors, at around 3.95, make more appeal. In Demba Ba they have a class striker and in a game that’s likely to be low scoring, the Senegal striker may prove the difference.
