PREVIEW

Andre Villas-Boas has failed to live up to both his lofty reputation and his hefty price tag since walking through the doors at Stamford Bridge and if he doesn’t get Chelsea out of the mess they are in pretty sharpish then he might find himself going back out through them.

For the €15 million it cost to buy Villas-Boas out of his Porto contract, Abramovich would definitely have expected more than what he’s seen since the summer. Liverpool followed up their recent league win at the Bridge with another that eliminated the Blues from the Carling Cup and they will see the chance of another pot go begging next week, when, if they lose to Valencia, they will be out of the Champions League.

The Premier League table hardly makes for better viewing either after five defeats in their opening 13 games. Chelsea already have ten points to make up on leaders Man City and despite being heavy favourites on the DAQ, at 2.16, I can’t see them winning at St James’s Park.

Newcastle have suffered just one defeat this term – away to Manchester City – and bounced back from that by clinching an impressive point at Old Trafford.

Alan Pardew’s men have taken 14 points from six matches up on Tyneside so I don’t see what’s not to like about the 3.75 on BETDAQ for the hosts

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Newcastle at 3.75: 2.5 points

Friday’s Return: +9.40 points
