PREVIEW
Scottish football may be entering a period of uncertainty with the expulsion of Rangers from the top tier but Celtic, trading at around 1.05 on BETDAQ for the title, still have to go out and win games. The defending champions kick off against Aberdeen in the early match today as they begin their quest for an amazing 44th title triumph.

Celtic warmed up for this clash with a rather nervy 2-1 win over Finnish side, HJK Helsinki, in the home leg of their Champions League qualifying tie on Wednesday. Neil Lennon backed his team to improve on that display after goals from Gary Hooper and Charlie Mulgrew cancelled out a surprise opener for the visitors.

Aberdeen drew 1-1 with German side St Pauli in their last outing, a friendly at the end of July. The only Scottish club to have ever won more than one European trophy will be out to improve on a poor campaign last year, in which Mark McGhee and his assistants got the sack. They finished ninth overall, more than 50 points adrift of Celtic.

Memories of a 9-0 thumping at the hands of Celtic back in late 2010 will surely be on the minds of Craig Brown’s men as they seek a first win over the Hoops since 2009. The last few games between the sides have been closer than one might have expected but Celtic really should have enough in their locker to see off Aberdeen.
