PREVIEW

After a torrid few weeks, Steve Bruce became the first managerial casualty in the Premier League with Franco Di Santo’s winner last weekend proving the final nail in the coffin. Bruce lost six of his 13 Premier League games this season and the side sit 16th in the table and they now face Wolves in a huge game at Molineux.

Wolves are locked on eleven points with Sunderland and just two ahead of Bolton in the final relegation spot. Mick McCarthy’s side have not been able to gain any momentum from their win over Wigan at the start of November and come into the game off two defeats.

The 3-1 win over the Latics highlights that Wolves have what it takes to win these tight contests at the bottom and they put in a terrific effort in the second half to seal the victory.

The Black Cats have won only once in their past six games and are without a victory in four league matches. Further concern for those Sunderland fans making the trip south is that the side have a poor recent record against Wolves. The hosts have beaten Sunderland in three matches on the spin and another here is trading at around 2.44 on BETDAQ.

There have been plenty of goals in the past few meetings between the clubs, with nine in the league games during the 2010/11 campaign. However, neither side looks confident in front of goal at the minute – so I expect this to be settled by single goal.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Wolves at 2.56: 4 points

Saturday’s Return: -2.50 points
