PREVIEW
Sunday’s Blue Square Premier play-off final will be the tenth Conference Premier Promotion Final and only 21 goals have been scored in normal time in the past nine. Interestingly, four of the last eight teams to play this final have failed to score in the game.

Luton Town will be aiming to become the second side to complete a12-month turnaround after losing out to AFC Wimbledon in a penalty shoot-out last year.

York City have met the Hatters six times in the division over the previous three years and also in a two-legged FA Trophy semi-final tie during this campaign. Luton have only got the better of them once, when a nine-man York team were hammered 5-0 at Kenilworth Road after having goalkeeper Michael Ingham dismissed early on in the game, back in the middle of the 2010/11 season.

The clubs were only separated by two points in the table by the end so any real advantage looks to be minimal. City completed their FA Trophy run with a victory at Wembley last Saturday and aim to become the first team to win both finals in the same season.

Paul Buckle’s unbeaten run as Luton manager came to an end at Wrexham in the semi-finals, but that 2nd leg defeat was one to take given they achieved their main aim of reaching the final.

With not much to separate the clubs, the draw looks the best bet after 90 minutes, but I like the chances of York landing the double and it may be on penalties.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back York City for promotion at 2.11: 4 points

Saturday Return: +0.86

MAY RETURN TO DATE: +19.31
