PREVIEW

A stunning 202 partnership between Virender Sehwag and Virat Kohli guided India to a 21 run victory over Sri Lanka and now the hosts have a chance to level the series in today’s contest. For the second time running the Hambantota ground will provide the backdrop for the action before moving on to Colombo.

The pitch didn’t offer much at all for the bowlers and it is a wicket where both captains will be desperate to win the toss and bat first to put the pressure on the chase.

India’s triumph on Saturday was the third consecutive win against Sri Lanka in the 50-over format and the tourists will be keen to maintain that momentum. The tourist’s chances of taking a 2-0 lead have increased as Sri Lanka’s most consistent new-ball bowler, Nuwan Kulasekara, has been ruled out of the remainder of the series with a groin injury.

Once again there will be plenty of focus on man-of-the-moment Kohli, who has now scored four centuries in his last five appearances for his country.

A man also in superb form is Kumar Sangakkara, who hit a stunning 133 knock before running out of partners in his almost single-handed chase on Saturday. Tillakaratne Dilshan and captain Mahela Jayawardene will need to find some form if the hosts are to stop the Indians running away with the series.

India just have too many players in top form at the moment and with Sri Lanka missing one of their best bowlers, MS Dhoni’s side are worth backing at around 2.78 on BETDAQ to move two ahead in the series.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back India at around 2.78 (IN PLAY) on BETDAQ: 6 points
