TIPPERARY: Shamrock previews races at Tipperary on Tuesday afternoon. There’s a Listed race on the card but the best best comes in the 4.05.

Unfortunately the run of naps came to an end at six yesterday with, appropriately enough, Stunned Silence, which was exactly my reaction after such a poor performance at Ballinrobe.

Ballinrobe race again tonight but we head to Tipperary for the afternoon card and the standout bet has to be The Ferryman in the 4.05.

He was a huge eye-catcher on debut behind his much touted stablemate Mars when the pair made their respective debuts at Dundalk recently. Mars won well, and is already favourite for the Epsom 2013 Derby, but it was the performance of The Ferryman – 4 3/4 lengths back in second that caught the eye of many shrewd judges.

He stayed on in really good style and wasn’t given the hardest of races on debut. If Mars is as good as they think, then this early test of form surely has to be passed with flying colours this afternoon?

Leitir Mor sets a good standard for The Ferryman to shoot at. Jim Bolger has kept this colt busy and with four seconds (three at < 1 length) and he deserves a first win. His presence in the race holds up the price on The Ferryman – around 1.86 on BETDAQ but I have to stick with the potential of The Ferryman who should improve significantly for his first run.

I guess Purple would be an appropriate horse for me to recommend you to back on BETDAQ in the 3.05 but for me she’s become disappointing and I’m pressing the lay button on the purple machine on Purple.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: The Ferryman (4.05 Tipperary)
LAY: Purple (3.05 Tipperary)
