PREVIEW
Championship new boys Charlton Athletic romped to victory in last season’s League One and the manner of their dominant campaign saw them tipped up as dark horses for back-to-back promotions. Chris Powell’s men were only denied an opening-day victory against Birmingham by an injury-time equaliser from Nikola Zigic.

Tonight they host Championship favourites Leicester City at the Valley, in what promises to be an informative tie with a bearing on each club’s title aspirations. The Foxes have spent big over the last year as they bid to return to the top-flight for the first time since 2004.

They saw off Peterborough 2-0 on the weekend and sit joint-top, albeit with just a game played. Nigel Pearson has named an unchanged squad, and so far has named the same starting line-up for both the Capital One Cup win at Torquay and the home victory over Posh on Saturday.

Chris Powell could add Scott Wagstaff to his Addicks squad after the winger missed the 1-1 draw against Birmingham through illness. Leicester are looking for a first win against Charlton in eight league clashes, since a 3-1 home victory in December 2000. The Foxes last picked up maximum points at the Valley in April 1996

The Addicks are chasing a sixth successive home league win. Chris Powell’s side were beaten only twice at home in their League One promotion season and they also started that campaign with a 12-match undefeated sequence.

Leicester have yet to concede a goal this season and another tight game looks on the cards. Backing Under 2/2.5 goals at around 2.19 on BETDAQ looks the call.
