PREVIEW
England stretched their unbeaten start over 90 minutes under Roy Hodgson to eight games with a straightforward crushing of Moldova in Chisinau last Friday and bid to extend that run to nine against familiar foes Ukraine in tonight’s game.

Having met their Eastern European rivals in qualification for the last World Cup, England were drawn against Ukraine once more in the European Championships where Hodgson’s men gained a rather fortunate win over the co-hosts.

Overall, England boast a solid record over Ukraine, having won four of the five encounters with that one loss coming away in 2009 when Rob Green was sent off early. But Oleg Blokhin has already stated his side are out for revenge after their ‘goal’ in Euro 2012 wasn’t given despite crossing the line.

However, with Andriy Shevchenko retired, Ukraine are not only lacking their talisman but also an important source of goals. Without him they could struggle to trouble the Three Lions defence, albeit one that is missing John Terry,

A number of injuries means England have drifted to a very backable price at around 1.51 on BETDAQ and, although calling up 17-year-old winger Raheem Sterling as well as midfielders Jake Livermore, 22, and Southampton’s Adam Lallana, 24, may have raised a few eyebrows, there is still enough experience in the squad for punters to be disappointed with anything other than a home win. That 1.51 is worth getting on even if a repeat of last week’s 5-0 demolition job looks unlikely.
