PREVIEW
Aston Villa’s season has so far been poor. Sitting just one point off the relegation zone in the Premier League, they had to come back from 1-0 down against Championship strugglers Ipswich in the FA Cup and then, having done so well knocking out the likes of Manchester City and Norwich in the Capital One Cup, they went to Bradford in the first leg of their semi-final earlier this month and were beaten 3-1.

Paul Lambert maintains his side can still advance to the final but they have it all to do tonight against their League Two rivals. The Bantams have already knocked out Wigan and Arsenal and are enjoying their first ever time in the League Cup last four.

Villa must hope to evoke the memories of their 1994 semi-final in which they lost the first leg away to Tranmere Rovers 3-1 but then won the second leg by the same score and went through on penalties. It’s the only time in League Cup history a side has reversed a two goal deficit from the first leg and advanced.

However, their opponents have won an English record nine successive shoot-outs so Lambert’s men will be hoping to avoid spot kicks.

It’s a tough game to call with the home side too short at around 1.44 on BETDAQ, considering their habit of throwing in a shocker. Bradford have conceded in all but two of their last 14 League Cup games and Aston Villa have banged in 15 goals in five matches in this season’s competition, so there is potential for goals.

But the Villans have it all to do to reverse that two goal defeat and, if Bradford get on the scoresheet, then they’ll have to hit at least three to take it to extra-time. For a team in the sort of form they’re in, you couldn’t be confident of them getting that sort of result against the spirited underdogs and backing Bradford to qualify at around 1.79 on BETDAQ looks the shout.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Bradford to qualify at around 1.79 on BETDAQ: 4 points

Monday: +1.65 points
JANUARY RETURN TO DATE: -25.70 points
