PREVIEW
Leyton Orient meet Southend later this evening for the first leg of their semi-final in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. The two remaining Southern clubs go head-to-head for a place in the Wembley final. Over in the Northern side Coventry and Crewe will battle it out for the final place.
The hosts are favourites to progress on the back of some solid form coming into the game. Orient are unbeaten in four successive games and that has seen them rise to 13th in League One, a safe distance away from the relegation places.
Orient have only lost two of their last nine at Brisbane Road and David Mooney’s contribution from midfield has been integral. He has 11 from the centre of the park already this season and he’ll be even more important tonight as Kevin Lisbie and Charlie MacDonald are cup-tied.
The visitors are fifth in League One, just two points away from the automatic promotion places, but their form has suffered in recent weeks. Paul Sturrock’s side have won just one and lost three of their last five away games.
