PREVIEW

Manchester City and Liverpool meet for the second time in a fortnight, but this time a place in the Carling Cup final is up for grabs. The Reds were on the wrong end of a 3-0 result when they last met, but the score somewhat flattered Roberto Mancini’s side as defensive errors cost the visitors dearly.

Since that result at the start of the month. City have been dumped out of the FA Cup by their bitter rivals following a 3-2 defeat on Sunday.  Even though the league leaders are out of the cup, the manager will have been delighted with the battling performance as they were reduced to ten men early in the opening half.

The 3-0 result was City’s second successive over Liverpool at home, but things may be a little tougher this time around after the Toure brothers’ departure for the African Cup of Nations. Kenny Dalglish will once again be without Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll will be leading the line.

Carroll will be desperate for Steven Gerrard to be handed a start so he can look to get on the end of some more of the midfielder’s crosses into the box. Vincent Kompany will be unavailable for selection after his dismissal and his presence will be missed when up against Carroll. Mancini has a selection headache to work through and should Liverpool win, BETDAQ customers will get all commission back on all the match markets.

Liverpool were unlucky not to get more out of the last meeting and now that City are missing three vital players, a draw is within reach at around 3.55 on BETDAQ .

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back the draw at around 3.55: 4 points

Tuesday’s Return: -4
