PREVIEW
Birmingham will need to play significantly better than the first leg if they’re to join West Ham in the play-off final. For the first time since February, Blues failed to find the back of the next when it really matters.

Chris Hughton will be relieved that it is only 1-0 and he knows that his side have been excellent at St Andrews – losing just once there in the Championship all season. Blues ran out convincing 3-0 winners the Tangerines were last here and the defeat on Friday was the first in five matches against them.

Blackpool’s game plan against Birmingham as underdogs was to contain them and see what they could get on the break. Ian Holloway’s plan worked perfectly as Blackpool proved very difficult to breakdown. The Tangerines run in was based on a solid backline that only conceded three times in six games.

The visitors were unbeaten in their final three away games and will head into the contest knowing that another strong defensive effort should see them through. However, they have not enjoyed playing at St Andrews over the past few season and have conceded five times on their past two visits, without finding a reply.

With Birmingham being so strong at home and the Tangerines’ struggles at St Andrews, I would suggest backing the home side to win the game within 90 minutes at 1.88 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Birmingham at 1.88: 6 points

Tuesday’s Return: +6.05 points

MAY RETURN TO DATE: +2.65
