PREVIEW
To say Chelsea’s season has been a disappointment so far would be a massive understatement. Defeat in the World Club Cup final to Corinthians in Japan on Sunday meant the Blues have now missed out on three pieces of silverware this term.
Failing to also win the Community Shield and the Super Cup could have been passed off had Rafael Benitez’s troops not become the first holders of the Champions League to depart at the group stages. Add the fact the league looks well out of reach now, and they have a tricky FA Cup tie versus West Ham to negotiate, the League Cup could be their only realistic chance of landing silverware this season.
They travel to Elland Road tonight to take on a Leeds side who relish being the underdogs. The Championship team have already knocked out Southampton and Everton at home and will fancy their chances against an under-performing Chelsea.
The west London club have only won one of their last five fixtures here and it will be fascinating to see what sort of team Rafa plays. Roman Abramovich is not going to be a happy owner should his team crash out, so expect a competitive game.
Leeds are a tough nut to crack and will find plenty of support on BETDAQ but possibly the best bet is draw/Chelsea in the half-time/full-time market.
