The US Open reaches the business end and could easily turn out to be a repeat final on Sunday with Djokovic meeting his Wimbledon conqueror Alcaraz with both players firmly odds-on on the BETDAQ EXCHANGE to progress.

Played in soaring heat in New York the tournament is likely to produce a red hot final too which will be pure box office at Flushing Meadows.

Djokovic is chasing down Margaret Court’s all-time record of Slam victories and – although we keep saying it and being proved wrong – surely the opportunities to find those two wins to match the record are going to be harder to come by as Father Time has his say?

It looked for all money like Djokovic was set for an early exit this tournament as early as the fourth round when he found himself two sets down against fellow Serb Laslo Djere before getting his act together and coming through (easily in the end) in five sets.

After clapping Djere out of Arthur Ashe Stadium, Djokovic said: “It was one of the toughest matches I’ve played here in many years.

“Huge, huge credit to Laslo for playing some of the best tennis I’ve ever seen him play.”

Standing in Djokovic’s way tonight is 20-year-old American Ben Shelton – most definitely a name for the future if not even the present. He’s build on his Australian Open quarter final performance by surpassing expectations here.

The pair are meeting for the first time and Shelton has the potential to cause Djokovic some problems – particularly with his serve which has been hitting 149mph on the speed camera!

In the second semi-final Alcaraz has a much tougher task against third seed Daniil Medvedev who has been vocal about the soaring temperatures.

The pair have met three times previously with the score 2-1 in Alcaraz’s favour and all the matches being won in straight sets.

I’m finding it impossible to oppose the current form trajectory of Alcaraz and think another straight sets victory is on the cards – which can be backed at around 2.3 on the BETDAQ SPORTSBOOK.
