PREVIEW

Without question the tie of the round but sad to see these two paired against each other and preventing some of football’s finances being funnelled down to the lower divisions.

Anyway, that’s what the balls, the hat and fate decided and to prove what a crazy season it’s been so far – both Man U and Liverpool are coming here on the back of defeats by Man City and Southampton respectively.

This is a big match for David Moyes. Forget how important the Carling Cup is in the grand scheme of things – a further defeat here will start to rasie eyebrows and there is already a simmering of discontent brewing. It wasn’t the 4-1 scoreline on Sunday – it was the poor way they played.

Liverpool will be well up for this – they beat Man U 1-0 earlier in the month at Anfield and the match could see the return of Suarez after his 10 match ban.

TEAM NEWS:
Manchester United team (from): De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Rafael, Fabio, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Buttner, Thorpe, Valencia, Giggs, Carrick, Cleverley, Fellaini, Anderson, Kagawa, Nani, Young, Cole, Welbeck, Rooney, Hernandez, Keane.

Liverpool team (from): Mignolet, Wisdom, Kelly, Toure, Skrtel, Enrique, Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Moses, Suarez, Sturridge, Jones, Sakho, Allen, Alberto, Sterling, Aspas, Ibe.

If this was a Champions League tie we’d definitely be going low in terms of goals – but in the current climate both teams are likely to go for it and we can see plenty of goals.
