PREMIER LEAGUE OPENER: We preview Friday’s Premier League opener at Old Trafford between MAN U v LEICESTER with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

8pm The Premier League finally returns on Friday night as Manchester United welcome Leicester! It’s been a tough summer for United fans; they haven’t done much business in the transfer market and the media have been at war with Jose Mourinho. It’s interesting to note how the media treat Mourinho compared to the other top managers – he seems to get a much tougher ride from them – and United will need to start with a win tonight to silence the doubters.
The home side are heavy favourites, with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Manchester United 1.55, Leicester 8.2 and the draw is 4.2. Despite the situation at United being overplayed by the media, they look very short at 1.55 here considering their situation. They had plenty of players involved in the latter stages of the World Cup and it’s fair to say that Mourinho won’t be played his first choice XI tonight.
That makes this fixture all the more important for United – they might not play their best but they need to ‘win ugly.’ We can’t touch them at 1.55 though and that price looks a massive lay – Leicester are a solid team and will be tough to break down tonight. We can see this being a very tight game, indeed a lot closer than the odds suggest, and if there are goals we can see them coming late.
Under 2.5 goals looks great value at 1.9 – we thought it would be much shorter. United didn’t exactly score loads of goals at home last season and had too many draws for their liking. It’s tempting to lay United at 1.55, very tempting in fact, however the 1.9 on under 2.5 goals just jumps of the page in what should be a very close game. It’s worth checking the price of 0-0 at HT closer to kick off too as we can see this being a dull first half. It’s great to have the Premier League back and here’s to a great season!
