PURPLE PATCH: Romelu Lukaku is back in the Premier League and this weekend he faces Aston Villa, one his favourite opponents from years gone by.

The Belgian’s sterling record against Aston Villa

Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea after seven years away from the Premier League in a £97.5 million transfer this summer and immediately showed his prowess in front of goal when scoring on debut against Arsenal at the Emirates.

But in eight years in the Premier League Lukaku’s travels to Birmingham have been the happiest, where he has been on the winning side 58% of the time.

Aston Villa are the side that have frequently been on the wrong side of Lukaku’s shooting boots and he has scored six times in eight appearances against them.

That works out at an impressive 0.75 goals a game, or one goal every 97 minutes. He has also provided one assist.

The Belgian looks a player that will strike fear into many defences this season and with Chelsea having started the season quickly you wouldn’t bet against him enhancing his fine record at Villa Park this weekend.
