IRISH RACING IS BACK: SHAMROCK bids to continue his excellent run of NAPS at Dundalk tonight. The last FOUR naps have all won !!!!
Dundalk stage the first Irish meeting since Sunday (it’s felt longer !!) and hopefully we can pick up where we left off in terms of the current naps run (below).
It looks a really tricky card for punters to deal with with big fields and some trappy handicaps.
I’m going to have to take a chance with Roman Impero in the Big Bad Bob Maiden over seven furlongs at 6pm. Currently trading at around 1.9 on BETDAQ you might wonder why on earth I’m considering it as ‘taking a chance’ – it’s simply because the race is jam packed full of debutants and not normally a race I’d play the nap card in.
However, sometimes you need to take a calculated risk that the proven form sets a high enough standard for the debutants to aim at and it would need an exceptional one to be good enough. It looks the case here. The Mick Halford trained Roman Impero made a satisfactory debut at Navan before going on to finish a course and distance second to the John Oxx trained Alphonsus here last time out. It looked an above average maiden with a smart winner.
It’s worth as always keeping an eye on the market especially for the debutants but there was nothing being exceptionally well backed at the time of writing.
