DUNDALK NAP: SHAMROCK naps a horse that was only fifth of six on debut but the form has worked out exceptionally well since.

The market got it wrong spectacularly yesterday at Clonmel. I was astonished to see my nap, Billy’s Hope, go off at such cramped odds (4/9) in the mares maiden hurdle and she could only finish second to Water Sprite.

I could do with an immediate bounce back after that setback and being Friday it is of course Dundalk on the all-weather tonight.

An eight race card and the best bet looks to come in division one of the seven furlong Big Bad Bob Maiden at 6.30.

Love In The Sun has to be respected from the Dermot Weld yard. She was only fifth of six on debut here but wasn’t beaten far and the form has worked out exceptionally well.

Chewy Round Town hinted at ability on debut at Wolverhampton when fifth of nine and then improved to finish and course and distance second here to the odds-on Roman Impero who bolted home. Encouragingly, the fourth home in that race, More Than Munny, came out to win on his next appearance.

Despite entering five of the 14 five-day entries for the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase at Sandown Park tomorrow, Willie Mullins has taken them all out. A field of six is left but Bitofapuzzle has a preferred engagement at Wetherby.
