LEOPARDSTOWN NAP: SHAMROCK heads to Leopardstown tonight in search of a naps hat-trick after Thursday’s best bet Touch Of Oscar WON 4/6.

Touch Of Oscar landed the nap last night but it was mighty hard work for the Joseph O’Brien trained runner who was pressed all the way by Rip Rocks Paddy Ok but found enough to prevail by three quarters of a length.

Back to Leopardstown tonight for the Listed Saval Beg Levmoss Stakes which is the feature race on the card.

Just the six runners and Aidan O’Brien’s Capri is well clear on official ratings.

He’s unquestionably a class horse as he proved when winning the 2017 Irish Derby and Doncaster St Leger but he has really struggled to show anything like his best form since then.

He was sent off favourite for his seasonal reappearance at Navan in the Vintage Crop Stakes but could only finish a fairly lacklustre 5th.

In short, I wouldn’t be dashing in to back him at short odds for this and would prefer to back Dermot Weld’s Falcon Eight on the BETDAQ place market at around 2.06 – which is a better price than Capri is to win.

Falcon Eight won his first two starts and was then by no means disgraced when third in a Group 3 at Naas over two miles. He’s got plenty of stamina and surely capable of further improvement on only his fourth racecourse start?
