SHAMROCK GETS IT RIGHT AND TIPS TWO LOSERS: What a week for SHAMROCK – he had two NAP LAY bets on Willie Mullins horses and got them both beaten at ODDS ON. Urano at 5/6 on Thursday and Thousand Stars at 10/11 yesterday.

No Irish racing today but I’m happy to lock away the profit from last week.

I rarely NAP LAY bets – but did it twice last week and both times it came off.

On Thursday with the enigmatic Urano who has cost backers dear and was being stepped UP in class and yesterday with Thousand Stars who despite being clear on the ratings has had some tough races being pacemaker to Hurricane Fly and I raised the possibility yesterday of him being on the downgrade.

In the end, Thousand Stars ran well but Barry Geraghty produced Sailors Warn with a well-timed run to take up the running at the last and foil the odds-on shot by a length.

One of the big Cheltenham questions was answered by Willie Mullins yesterday.

Unbeaten mare Annie Power is set to take her chance in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at Cheltenham next week with Ruby Walsh riding.

There was speculation whether she would contest the Champion Hurdle or the OLBG Mares’ Hurdle for which she also held entries.

Mullins said after racing at Leopardstown on Sunday: “All being well, and if everything goes right, Ruby will probably ride Hurricane Fly in the Champion, Quevega in the mares’ race and Annie Power in the stayers’ (World Hurdle).”
