GALWAY AND WEXFORD: It’s Halloween Bank Holiday in Ireland with two jumping cards at Galway and Wexford. SHAMROCK isn’t scared of napping in the beginners chase at Galway.

A couple of good jumping cards on Bank Holiday Monday and the race that I am most looking forward to is the the beginners chase at Galway (1.45pm).

Obviously early days but the winner of this could easily emerge as a contender for the RSA Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and the starting point today has to be De Plotting Shed.

He is one of three Gordon Elliott trained runners here and De Plotting Shed peaked at an official rating of 152 over hurdles and earlier this year finished second to Sutton Place in the Ladbrokes Ireland Boyne Hurdle at Navan.

However, he faces a serious rival in Presenting Percy who peaked at a higher 159 over hurdles after his Cheltenham Festival win in the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle (Sutton Manor who also runs today held in fifth that day).

He absolutely relishes the heavy ground and with a safe round of jumping I think Presenting Percy should come out top in this interesting early season skirmish.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Presenting Percy (1.45 Galway)
