TOUCH AND GO AT LISTOWEL: The meeting needed to survive a morning inspection and the ground is heavy.
Today’s meeting at Listowel got the green light after a 10am check following overnight rain and further light rain this morning had put the Ladies Day fixture in some doubt.
The Co. Kerry track remains fit for racing and, given a favourable weather forecast for the remainder of today, the meeting will go ahead as planned.
The going is now heavy on both the Flat and National courses, and an eight race mixed card featuring the Guinness Handicap gets underway at 1.55pm.
I’m happy to wait until the final race on the card for the best bet of the day. Sitcom ran well on her debut at Tramore, on heavy ground, where she finished second to Dani Catalonia.
The morning price of around 3.4 on BETDAQ looks very reasonable.
