DUNDALK ON FRIDAY: Shamrock heads to Dundalk in the search for a winning nap.

A disappointing day yesterday. As a punter you can sometimes be too clever for your own good.

My case yesterday was built around the Mullins/Walsh runner Unika La Reconce being too short and instead of just laying him, I tried to find an alternative winner, Rye Martini, who ran a shocker and appeared, surprisingly, not to stay. The race went to 16/1 shot Rathlin with the favourite Unika La Reconce back in second at 8/11.

In the 8.20 at Dundalk tonight, Have A Nice Day looks of interest. He has had four career starts to date (all at Dundalk) and showed his first sign of ability when third in a maiden over six furlongs in January.

He was stepped up to seven furlongs for his handicap debut two weeks ago and won in the style of a well handicapped horse. A 7lb hike for that success shouldn’t stop him and main rival Toberton only won a claimer last time out. The mile trip should also suit Have A Nice Day.

Have A Nice Day (8.20 Dundalk)
