DOWNPATRICK OFF: Shamrock heads to Dundalk tonight after Monday afternoon’s meeting at Downpatrick has been abandoned due to waterlogging.

Rain has unfortunately led to Downpatrick being called off today.

Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: “They had 15 millimetres of rain overnight, but the forecasters told them it would stop this morning, in which case they would have been all right.

“But it hasn’t stopped raining, it’s just got heavier and heavier and it’s still raining there now.

“As a result, parts of the track are waterlogged and they’ve had no choice but to abandon.”

At Dundalk best bet on the card could come in the finale at 9.15pm.

The Aidan O’Brien trained Place Vendome is trading around 2.8 on BETDAQ and I’m happy with that. He was beaten a long way when second to Takar on debut at Leopardstown last November – but that form doesn’t look too shabby given Takar has won a Group 3 this season.

Despite the big field this doesn’t look a race strong in depth.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:

NAP: Place Vendome (9.15 Dundalk)
