NO AWARDS FOR THE PRICE: But at least Shamnrock’s NAP won on Saturday. That was Danzerini (WON 3/10) in the 6.25 at Limerick and frankly had to work quite hard for the success despite the skinny odds.

The Kerry Group Noblesse Stakes, a Group 3 event, looks hard to sort out at Cork this afternoon and Aidan O’Brien sets his usual quandary to punters by saddling three of the eight runners. My colleague DAQMAN is sweet on the chances of O’Brien’s Betterbetterbetter but it’s a no play race for me.

In the opener, Performance could start the day well for O’Brien by landing the 2.10 on debut. The only runner with form, Indigo Ridge, will have a fitness advantage but will probably prove vulnerable to a newcomer.

The bet on the card comes for me in the 5.20. Firethorn ran well on debut at Navan to take a close-up third to Coin Of Courage, belying his 25/1 price tag and should prove hard to beat today if reproducing that form.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Firethorn (5.20 Cork)
