SNOW FAIRY LANDS 15/8 WINNING NAP FOR SHAMROCK: The fairytale win of Snow Fairy was good news for Shamrock followers but the next best Duntle WON 7/2 before getting the Matron Stakes taken away from her in the stewards room.

Snow Fairy’s win was a fairytale – the wonder mare did it yet again at Group 1 level and the thoroughly deserved post-race celebrations were as raucous as you’ll ever see on a racecourse.

She should have been completing a double for me after Duntle had finished first past the post in the Matron Stakes but the stewards reversed the result giving the Group 1 to Chachamaidee. I’m of course biased, but it looked harsh and it was a big shock given Duntle was trading around 1.2 to keep the race but after the lengthy 25 minute inquiry she was demoted.

There’s more Group 1 action today with the Moyglare Stud Stakes at 4.25. Aidan O’Brien bids to win the race for the third year in a row but his runners this year Snow Queen and Magical Dream don’t stand out in a really competitive renewal.

The best of the English challenge may be the more experienced Magical Lantern from Richard Hannon’s yard who is preferred to Mick Channon’s Ffos Las debut winner Orpha.

However, I think the prize will stay at home and I am expecting Sendmylovetorose to remain unbeaten. She already has proven Group form to her name, winning a Group 3 race here and then the Group 2 Cherry Hinton at Newmarket last time out. Although a narrow win, the form has worked out well and she deserves a crack at this big prize at the top level.

Famous Name mops up Group 3 races for fun and although the Refuse To Bend Solonaway Stakes looks competitive he still should have the class to win again.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Sendmylovetorose (4.25 Curragh)
NEXT BEST: Famous Name (3.20 Curragh)
