NAPS HAT-TRICK? SHAMROCK bids for a third winning nap in-a-row on Thursday following on from Fourth Estate (WON 4/5) and Soll (WON 2/5). The spotlight is on Clonmel today.

The day hasn’t started well for Ruby Walsh who had his appeal against a three-day careless riding ban at Cheltenham dismissed following a hearing at the British Horseracing Authority this morning.

Walsh jets back to Ireland for one ride at Clonmel this afternoon onboard The Midnight Club for guvnor Willie Mullins in the Clonmel Festival Week Chase at 3.40. Mullins also has Cooldine running for him in the five runner field but the BETDAQ market points strongly towards The Midnight Club who is trading around 1.61 at the time of writing.

The Midnight Club started favourite for last year’s Grand National and didn’t disgrace himself by finishing sixth in the Aintree extravaganza. This could be a good confidence booster for him today on the road to Aintree again but over this trip and at the likely odds doesn’t really appeal as a bet today.

Mullins may strike in the previous race with a horse that’s been off the track for 830 days !! Immediate Response is the horse in question – his fitness has to be taken on trust but the market signs are positive and he could be particularly well handicapped.

For hopefully my third nap in-a-row I rely on Is Herself About in the 2.10. This looks a match between her and Noras Fancy and the selection beat that rival hands down when they clashed recently at Fairyhouse and I see no reason why that form shouldn’t be franked.

SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: Is Herself About (Clonmel 2.10)
NEXT BEST: Immediate Response (Clonmel 3.10)
