10.0 NAP AND ‘HUGE’ PLACE VALUE AT 12.0: Shamrock was beaten a head for a hat-trick yesterday when the first two legs of his trio won but the nap was a narrowly-beaten second. Today he suggests a ‘huge’ place bet at 12.0 and a nap in the Fox Hunters’ at 10.0.

AINTREE: It may just be a patriotic pin-stick in the dark but a 130.0 shot on BETDAQ is worth a place to hunt up Big Buck’s as you enjoy the spectacle of his record bid.

Sabrina Harty’s Won In The Dark (2.00) is an expert at being placed without winning; he’s been in the frame 10 times from his last 12 races, including third to Big Buck’s in this same Liverpool Hurdle last year.

Roberto Goldback (3.05) has twice beaten Follow The Plan over 3m this year and the 92.0 win offer on BETDAQ is equally huge for a place in the Aintree Bowl: 12.0 as I write.

My first-day Liverpool lump-on must be Boxer Georg (3.40), a close second in this Fox Hunters’ Chase last year and primed with a couple of rounds of Cheltenham in the Foxhunter at the festival. I’m in his corner at 10.0 on BETDAQ.

In the old days, Arthur Moore seldom made mistakes when he sent one to English soil but I’m afraid Free World (4.15) does make mistakes. Hoping for a clear round, I’ll have an old punt win and place at 10.5.

Rick’s 43.0 for the finale tells you all you need to know but, again, you’re on a horse in the frame 11 times in his last 14 completed starts. He’s been placed behind Mourad, Mikael D’Haguenet and Voler La Vedette. So he’s not all bad.

GOWRAN PARK: I’ve been following the early money in Ireland this week and that hasn’t served me badly. The two principal movers early doors on BETDAQ today were Sweet Mystery (4.00) and Toraidhe (6.10).

Chicago (7.10) stepped over Calgacus to take the market lead in the EBF Maiden (7.10) but I liked the look of John Oxx’s Waving in what might have been a winners’ race (the runner-up has already won) at The Curragh at the start of the season.

Oxx and Johnny Murtagh have another one, Zafarqand (7.40), strong in the early market. The yard has already beaten Statesmanship (Tugboat at Navan in October), so this looks a fair bet.
