All About You is trained by John Butler, son of Irish trainer Michael, and today having his first runner as, guess what, Barney Curley’s tenant in part of the Newmarket yard!
All About You led until two out over 1m 4f at Lingfield last time and drops back to a mile this evening. If Sommersturm has won by then, he could start very short indeed, as layers sniff ‘a plot’.
Grumeti (1.00 Newbury) is getting Triumph Hurdle hype after winning easily at Taunton but, in fact, on the Flat was rated 8lb inferior to Don McCain’s Irish-bred newcomer, Sud Pacifique (sorry about the Irish name, but he’s by Montjeu).
Sud Pacifique gets 7lb off the penalized Grumeti today, so in theory has more than a stone in hand. All depends how he jumps.
I’m playing safe with the nap, Vulcanite (2.15) at Southwell, but though an Irishman would hate to see corkage charged, he’ll love to see Irish-bred Corkage (1.10) charge round the Southwell oval and add a bit of value to my double and trio.
